One of my most important jobs as a Salesforce consultant is to teach about the power of the Salesforce platform. This means that often I follow up conversations with emails containing links to Salesforce help articles and documents. When I’m not emailing links, I’m embedding them in client specific training decks or documentation. Now, I don't know about you, but I get very picky about aesthetics and the Help article URLs are just too unruly for my taste!
The day I accidentally stumbled on how to create my own simple and short Salesforce URLs was a great day indeed. Here is how to do it:
- Go to bit.ly (no login or account required)
- Paste any Salesforce link article into the orange outlined box — this can be a help article, something from the Success Community, or even from within Salesforce itself!
- Watch the magic happen as the link shortens before your eyes and click Copy
That’s it! You are done!
If you want to get fancier and you use Chrome, head to the Chrome Extension store and get the Bit.ly shortener extension for an even easier experience where you can simply press the browser button and it auto-copies to your clipboard. This is how I do it in my day to day work.
